But by having the horizontal lid will prevent the cold air to fall out when it’s opened and a chest freezer also has a thicker insulation than an upright freezer that will make it more energy efficient.

The best thing about a chest freezer is that you can use a solar panel for its source of power and this can’t be done with an upright freezer and you can also use a chest freezer as a refrigerator but using an additional tool that can automatically turn on and off the chest freezer. Such tools are temprature controller, wall timer or a new thermostat using a relay switch that can control its temprature.
